Our Ingredient Standards
Every TucTucs treat starts with carefully selected, human-grade ingredients chosen with your pet’s health in mind. We source as locally as possible, working with trusted Canadian farms and fisheries whenever available. When local sourcing isn’t an option, we choose partners who follow responsible, humane practices — raising animals without unnecessary antibiotics or genetically modified inputs, and sourcing fish from cleaner, well-managed waters.
We never rely on by-products, scraps, or discard pieces. Instead, we select premium cuts of meat with naturally lower fat content, ensuring each treat delivers clean nutrition without fillers or excess processing. It’s a thoughtful approach that allows us to offer simple, honest treats you can feel confident feeding your pet.
Ingredients & Sourcing
Our Festive Feast Mix is made with 100% human-grade turkey heart, turkey liver, cranberries, green beans and butternut squash, sourced from Canada.
All of our vegetable options at TucTucs are gently blanched prior to freeze-drying. Pets cannot efficiently break down the tough cell walls of raw plant matter, and blanching helps soften the plant structure to improve digestibility. This allows nutrients to be more easily absorbed, ensuring pets can fully benefit from the vitamins and minerals naturally present in vegetables.

TucTucs can be used as a treat or meal topper alongside your pet’s regular diet. Feed in moderation and always supervise while your pet eats, especially when introducing new treats. Fresh water should be available at all times, and treats should be chosen appropriately for your pet’s size and chewing style.
Our treats are gently freeze-dried and not cooked, meaning they are still considered a raw product. As with any raw food, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling. This product is intended for supplemental feeding only and should not replace a complete and balanced diet. Introduce new proteins gradually, particularly for pets with sensitivities.
Unopened, freeze-dried treats can typically last several years due to the moisture-removal process. However, because we use BPI-certified compostable bags, the packaging itself will begin to break down after approximately one year, which is why we recommend using products within that timeframe.
Once opened, treats are exposed to oxygen and will slowly begin to rehydrate. To maintain freshness, keep the bag tightly sealed and store it in a cool, dark place such as a cupboard. Transferring treats to an airtight container can also help preserve quality, especially in more humid environments. For best freshness, treats should be consumed within one month of opening.
For extended shelf life, opened treats can be stored in the refrigerator, which may help them last up to three months.
As always, inspect treats before feeding and use your best judgment to ensure they remain safe for your pet.
At TucTucs, we chose to work exclusively with freeze-dried treats because it allows us to put pets first — always. Freeze-drying gently removes moisture without cooking, helping preserve the natural nutrients, flavour, and texture found in raw ingredients. The result is a treat that stays closer to its original form, delivering meaningful nutrition pets instinctively love.
Unlike heavily processed or heat-treated treats, freeze-dried options retain more of the vitamins, minerals, and amino acids that support overall health. This makes them an ideal choice for pets with sensitivities, as well as those who thrive on simple, species-appropriate ingredients.
Every decision we make is guided by the belief that our pets deserve the very best. By choosing freeze-dried, we’re able to offer clean, nutrient-rich treats that support long, healthy lives — so our pets can stay by our sides for as many years as possible.
