-
TucTucs are single-ingredient, freeze-dried raw treats for dogs (and cats, too). Freeze-drying removes moisture without high heat, helping preserve the natural flavour and nutrients of real food while keeping the treats shelf-stable. Each bag contains one real food ingredient—no fillers, no additives, and no junk—so if you can read the ingredient name, you can understand exactly what you’re feeding.
-
Every TucTucs bag is one single ingredient—nothing hidden, nothing mixed in. We offer a variety of proteins and options like beef, chicken, turkey, pork, fish, sweet potato, and green-lipped mussels—so you can pick what works best for your pet. If it’s not on the label, it’s not in the bag.
-
Nope. What you see on the label is what’s in the bag—one ingredient, freeze-dried raw. We don’t use fillers, artificial colours, artificial flavours, or added preservatives. To help keep the treats at their best in the bag, you’ll also find a food-safe oxygen absorber and silica pack inside—those are there to help protect against oxygen and moisture (but they’re not edible, so please toss them before feeding).
-
Yes. Ingredient quality is non-negotiable for us. We choose high-quality, real food ingredients and avoid fillers or blended “mystery” mixes—each product is one clearly listed ingredient. If you’re shopping for a pet with sensitivities or you’re curious about sourcing, message us and we’ll help you choose the best option.

Freeze-drying is a gentle way to preserve real food. It removes moisture without using high heat, which helps keep the natural flavor and nutrients of the ingredient intact. The result is a lightweight, shelf-stable treat that’s easy to store, easy to travel with, and usually a huge hit with picky pets.
-
Both freeze-drying and dehydration remove moisture to help preserve food, but they do it in different ways. Freeze-drying uses very low temperatures and a vacuum process, which helps keep the ingredient’s structure and can preserve more heat-sensitive nutrients. Dehydration uses low heat over time, which can change the texture (usually denser/chewier) and may reduce some heat-sensitive nutrients. We choose freeze-drying because it gives us a great balance of quality, consistency, and shelf stability.

Many pet parents choose single-ingredient treats because they’re simple and easier to manage when you’re avoiding specific proteins. Since each bag is one ingredient, it’s easy to pick a protein your pet already tolerates and avoid the ones they don’t. If your pet has known allergies or a sensitive stomach, we recommend introducing any new treats slowly and checking with your vet if you’re unsure.
-
Yes! Because our treats are freeze-dried, they’re light, clean, and easy to break into smaller pieces, and since they’re single-ingredient, with no fillers, many pet parents find they’re gentler on tiny bellies. That said, we always recommend keeping portions small and introducing any new treat slowly—little tummies can get upset if you change things too fast or overfill their tiny bellies.
-
Yes—cats love our treats. Many of our hearts, fish, and quail hatchlings have become especially popular with our feline customers. If you’re choosing a cat-friendly option, hearts are a great pick because they’re naturally high in taurine, an essential nutrient cats need in their diet to support overall health (including heart and eye function). As with any treat, start with a small amount and serve in appropriately sized pieces.

TucTucs can be fed a few different ways, depending on your pet and what you’re using them for. You can offer them as a regular treat, break them into smaller pieces for training, or add them to your pet's meals as a topper for extra flavour and nutrition. If you have a senior pet (or any pet) that has a harder time chewing crunchier treats, you can add a little water to soften them before feeding.
-
It depends on your pet’s size, activity level, and what else they’re eating that day. Treats should be just that—treats—so a good guideline is to keep treats to a small portion of your pet’s daily calories and adjust if you notice weight gain or a sensitive stomach. For training, we recommend using smaller pieces more often instead of a few large treats. That way, you can reward frequently without overfeeding.

Freeze-drying removes the moisture that normally causes food to spoil, which is what makes the treats naturally shelf-stable. To help protect quality after packaging, we also include a food-safe oxygen absorber and a silica pack in each bag to reduce oxygen and moisture exposure. Those packets are not edible—please discard them before feeding (and keep them away from curious pets).
-
Because freeze-drying removes moisture, unopened treats can typically last a long time when stored properly. That said, our packaging is BPI-certified compostable, and compostable materials will naturally begin to break down over time—so the bag itself has a lifespan too. We recommend using unopened bags within about one year for the best packaging integrity. Once opened, reseal the bag tightly and store it in a cool, dark place (a cupboard is perfect). For best freshness, use within 1 month of opening. If you’d like to extend that, you can store the treats in the refrigerator or an airtight container like a mason jar for up to 3 months.
-
Because we use real, single-ingredient foods, natural variation is normal. Things like the season, the specific cut, and the ingredient’s natural fat and moisture content can slightly change the colour, size, and smell from batch to batch—similar to how fresh meat or fish can vary at the grocery store. What doesn’t change is our process and quality standards. Every batch is made the same way, packaged the same way, and checked so you’re still getting the same simple, single-ingredient treat you expect.
-
All TucTucs treats are made in our food-safe facility in Brantford, Ontario, Canada—this is not a home kitchen. We follow strict food safety and handling standards, similar to what you’d expect in a manufacturing facility that produces food for people. We prioritize sourcing ingredients from Canada whenever possible, but some ingredients (especially certain fish) may be sourced outside Canada. Fish also migrate, so the exact catch location can change seasonally. No matter where an ingredient comes from, we work hard to source the highest-quality, ethically produced ingredients we can, and we list the country of origin in the product’s Ingredients & Nutrition section whenever applicable.

Sustainability is a big part of who we are. We care about what we’re putting into our dogs—and we care just as much about what we’re putting into the world around them. Choosing compostable packaging is part of building a brand we can be proud of, and one we feel good handing to other pet parents. We use BPI-certified compostable bags because that certification is a trusted standard. Many Canadian municipalities look for the BPI logo to confirm what can go into industrial composting/green bin systems, which makes it easier for you to dispose of the packaging responsibly.

These two terms get mixed up a lot, but they’re not the same. “Biodegradable” is a broad term that simply means something will break down over time—but it doesn’t always say how long it takes, what it breaks down into, or whether it leaves anything behind. “Compostable” is more specific. Compostable materials are designed to break down into non-toxic, natural components under composting conditions. That’s why we chose certified compostable packaging—clearer standards, and a cleaner end result.

We typically process orders within 2–3 business days. We keep inventory intentionally small so your treats stay fresh, and that sometimes means we’re packaging a batch specifically for your order. During busy seasons or around holidays, processing can take a little longer—but if we need extra time, we’ll always keep you updated so you know what to expect.

At this time, we ship within Canada only. Because our treats are raw (freeze-dried raw meat/seafood), shipping across borders requires specific licensing and import/export requirements that we don’t currently have in place. If you’re outside Canada and interested in TucTucs, feel free to reach out with your location—we’re always listening, and it helps us plan for the future.
