FAQ
What makes TucTucs treats different from other pet treats?
At TucTucs, everything we do is guided by quality and sustainability. Our treats are made from single, human-grade ingredients sourced from local, ethical farms right here in Ontario.
Instead of choosing cheaper scraps, we select prime cuts with the lowest fat content and highest nutritional value, so your pet gets the very best. Each batch is crafted small-scale, giving us the chance to personally check every piece going in and out of the freeze-dryers to ensure it meets our high standards.
Because our eco-friendly mission is just as important, we package every one of our treats in BPI-certified compostable materials — so you can feel good knowing your purchase is healthier for your pet and kinder to the planet.
Are your treats safe for both dogs and cats?
Absolutely! TucTucs are crafted to be safe, nutritious, and easy to enjoy for both dogs and cats. Every bag contains only one ingredient, so you always know exactly what you’re feeding your pet. And it doesn’t stop there — we’ve had customers share that their ferrets, hedgehogs, and even hermit crabs love TucTucs too.
If you share your home with a carnivore, chances are they’ll be a fan!
How should I store your treats, and how long do they last?
TucTucs should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight, as both can cause the compostable bags to break down faster and may spoil the product inside.
Once opened, we recommend feeding within a month for the best freshness. You can extend this up to three months by transferring the treats into an airtight container, like a mason jar, or by storing the bag in the fridge. As with any pet food, it’s always best practice to give the treats a quick look (and sniff!) each time you open the bag and use your best judgment before serving.
The bags themselves are designed to keep your treats safe, but because they’re BPI-certified compostable, they’ll naturally begin to break down after about a year. To help keep your treats fresh, we include oxygen absorbers and silica packs in every bag. If you ever notice a bag starting to weaken before your pet finishes it, simply reach out — we’ll be happy to look at it on a case-by-case basis.
My pet has allergies or health concerns — are your treats suitable?
Our products are manufactured both locally and globally. We carefully select our manufacturing partners to ensure our products are high quality and a fair value.
Why compostable packaging?
From the very beginning, we knew TucTucs had to be about more than just great treats. We wanted every part of our business to reflect the same love and care we put into our pets — and that includes how we package our products. Traditional plastic bags can take hundreds of years to break down, and most end up sitting in landfills long after the treats are gone.
That didn’t feel right to us. So we chose BPI-certified compostable packaging that’s designed to return safely to the earth. It means our bags break down naturally instead of becoming waste, helping to protect the planet our pets will inherit. For us, compostable packaging isn’t just a feature — it’s part of our promise to do better for pets, people, and the planet, one treat at a time.
Where are your products made?
Our manufacturing facility is located in Brantford, Ontario, Canada.
We prioritize sourcing our ingredients from Canada whenever possible. However, certain items, such as fish, are imported from other countries. The country of origin for each ingredient is listed in the Ingredients & Nutritional section of the product description.
How Long Does It Take to Process and Ship My Order, and What Are the Shipping Costs?
We strive to process and ship orders as quickly as possible, typically 2-3 business days. To ensure freshness, we maintain a small inventory and may need extra time to prepare your order, especially during busier seasons. We will keep you informed on whether we need additional time to process your order. Your patience helps us maintain the quality and care your furry friend deserves.
Shipping Cost:
We offer flat-rate shipping of $15 on orders under $50, and free shipping on all orders over $50 across Canada. Local customers in the Brantford area can also enjoy free local drop-off or pick up directly from our treat factory.
Once shipped, delivery times may vary depending on your location. For more details, please visit our Shipping Policy page.
